Prince Tickets : Prince Has Several Hundred Unreleased Songs In His "Vault"
Prince Rogers Nelson , better known as simply Prince, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. He has been known under the unpronounceable symbol, which he used between 1993 and 2000. During that period he was frequently referred to in the media as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince", often abbreviated to "TAFKAP", or simply "The Artist".
Prince produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career. Prince founded his own recording studio and label, writing, self-producing and playing most, or all, of the instruments on his recordings.In addition, Prince has been a "talent promoter" for the careers of Sheila E., Carmen Electra, The Time and Vanity 6, and has written songs for these artists and others .
Prince also has several hundred unreleased songs in his "vault". He has won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award.He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the first year he was eligible.In that same year Rolling Stone ranked Prince #28 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
Prince's music has been influenced by rock, R&B, soul, funk, rap, blues, New Wave, electronica, disco, psychedelia, folk, jazz, and pop. His artistic influences include Sly & the Family Stone, Parliament-Funkadelic, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Miles Davis, Carlos Santana,Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Duke Ellington, Curtis Mayfield,and Stevie Wonder.Prince pioneered the "Minneapolis sound", a hybrid mixture of funk, rock, pop, R&B and New Wave that has influenced many other musicians.
Prince released a triple album set containing LOtUSFLOW3R, MPLSoUND, and an album credited to his new protege, Bria Valente, called Elixer, on March 24, 2009, followed by a physical release on March 29. The release was preceded by performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. It was released in other countries digitally, with official physical release dates yet to be announced. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200, and critics' opinions were mixed to positive.
On July 18, 2009, Prince performed two shows at the Montreux Jazz Festival, being backed by The New Power Generation including Rhonda Smith, Renato Neto, and John Blackwell. There he played "A Large Room with No Light" which had been in Prince's "vault" for some time.
On October 11, 2009, Prince gave two surprise concerts at the glass-and-iron Grand Palais exhibition hall after visiting the landmark Paris building on the banks of the Seine. On October 12, he gave another surprise gig at La Cigale. On October 24, Prince played a concert at his own Paisley Park complex in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Prince gave two radio interviews one on 107.5 WBLS on December 10, 2010 and another one on 103.5 KTU on December 13, 2010. He was going to do a concert at the Apollo Theatre and it was cancelled.Prince started the Welcome 2 America Tour on December 15, 2010. He cancelled a December 14 concert at Izod Center in New Jersey.Prince premiered the song "Black Muse" on December 15, 2010 on the Welcome 2 America Tour.
During the New York City and New Jersey portions of Prince's Welcome 2 America tour, Misty Copeland took a few nights off from her 2010 role in The Nutcracker at Brooklyn Academy of Music and performed a pas de deux en pointe to "The Beautiful Ones" as the opening number at the Izod Center and Madison Square Garden.On December 18, 2010, Prince premiered the song "Welcome 2 America" in Madison Square Garden on the Welcome 2 America Tour.
On December 29, 2010, Prince pemiered the song "Gingerbread Man" in Madison Square Garden on the Welcome 2 America Tour.On February 4, 2011, Prince was scheduled to perform at theEvent Complex in Dallas, but it was relocated and then cancelled at the last minute for unknown and unexplained reasons.On February 7, 2011, Prince performed in Madison Square Garden and he gave Kim Kardashian the boot for horrible dancing.
On February 12, 2011, Prince presented Barbra Streisand with an award and donated $1.5 million to charities.He is also not amused about Glee covering his hit "Kiss".On February 14, 2011, Prince threw a Grammy afterparty in Los Angeles, California.
